Dive Into Colorwork: I’ll Pack a Cowl for Rhinebeck - Thursdays, 9/24 & 10/1 from 5:30 pm - 7 pm

Heading to Rhinebeck? We have the perfect cowl to bring! Not going to Rhinebeck? Sheep and alpacas are still pretty cute!

Get ready for a little sheep, a little alpaca and lots of colorwork! Inspired by the Baa-ble Hat designed by Donna Smith, this cozy cowl is the perfect project to get you in the Rhinebeck spirit.

In this class, you’ll learn:

  • How to knit stranded colorwork using two colors

  • How to read and follow a colorwork chart

  • How to manage your floats on the back of your work

  • Tips for keeping your colorwork tension even

  • How to change colors and carry yarn as you work

  • How to avoid puckering in your colorwork

  • Tips for finishing and blocking your cowl

Choose your favorite colors and have your cowl ready to wear for a fun fall day at Rhinebeck!

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off and knit in the round.

Materials Needed:

  • Pattern: I’ll Pack a Cowl for Rhinebeck (free on Ravelry)

  • Yarn: Worsted Weight yarn: Main Color (MC)– 100 yards Contrast Color (CC) –100 yards White (sheep) –50 yards Black (accent) –25 yards

  • Needles: US 7, 24” circular needles or needles needed to achieve gauge

  • Notions: Tapestry/darning needle (available at The Creative Knot)

Class price: $70 + Materials

Class Schedule: 2-part class. You must be able to attend all classes as there will be no make up classes.

We ask that all yarn for classes be purchased in the shop. 10% discount will be applied. Materials can be purchased at the shop prior to class.

All classes must be paid in advance. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48 hours before the start of class. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the class start time, as well as missed classes, are not eligible for store credit. No exceptions.

Class Size: 6 person max. Must have two registered for class to occur.

Lisa is your instructor for this class.

Lisa has been knitting for over 10 years and brings a warm, encouraging teaching style to every class. She’s a recent (and very welcome!) addition to The Creative Knot team and loves helping new knitters build confidence and enjoy the creative process.
