My First Knit Hat: Two-session class, June 25 & July 2, 10 am - 11 am

Ready to take your knits and purls to the next level? Join us for My First Knit Hat and learn essential new skills in this fun, two-part workshop!

In this class, you’ll:
✨ Master the Very Stretchy Cast On for a comfy, flexible brim
✨ Learn to knit in the round using circular and double-pointed needles
✨ Tackle decreases to shape a beautifully fitted crown

We’ll use soft, chunky yarn, and you’ll work on the Rasta Fasta Hat, a quick and satisfying project that flatters everyone. This class is perfect for confident beginners who’ve already learned to cast on, knit, and purl, and are ready to expand their skills into hat construction and shaping.

Leave with a stylish accessory and the confidence to tackle more complex projects!

Class 1: Hat construction, Cast on,  Ribbing and Hat Body

In this class we’ll go over the pattern and how the hat is constructed, learn the Very Stretchy cast on and how to join/knit in the round, as well as begin the ribbing and body of the hat.

Class 2: Decreasing, Double Pointed Needles and Finishing

In class 2 we’ll learn how to use double pointed needles, hat decreases and finishing.

Skill Level: Advanced beginner. Must be able to cast on and knit & purl.

Needles:  US 11 (8 mm) 16” circular needles
US 13 (9mm) 16” circular needles
US 13 (9mm) double pointed needles
Yarn: 1 skein Malabrigo Rasta
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Scissors

Donna learned both knit & crochet as a child, and has fallen back in love with both (knitting for 15+ years, crocheting for 3+). Donna loves to knit & crochet pretty much everything she can get her hands on, including blankets, hats, shawls, cowls, fingerless mitts, tops & sweaters. She loves anything fiber-related and also felts, dyes yarn, embroiders, and loves needlepoint & crewelwork.
