Steeking for Knitters, Saturday, April 4, 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Steeking for Knitters, Saturday, April 4, 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Cut your knitting!? If you’ve ever wanted to try steeking, this is your chance.

Steeking is a technique used to safely and securely cut your knitting to create openings where you need them—often for sleeves or cardigans. It’s commonly used in colorwork garments because stranded colorwork is much easier to knit in the round.

For this class, you’ll knit a coffee cozy ahead of time—think of it as a mini sweater vest for your coffee cup. In class, we’ll focus on the exciting part: learning how to reinforce the steek by hand, cutting your knitting, and then picking up stitches to knit a button band. It’s a great way to gain the confidence to steek a cardigan by starting with a small, manageable project.

Homework: This must be done before you come to class.
Knit the cozy before class. We’ll begin by reinforcing the steek and then cutting. Yes—really! 🧶✂️

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced. Must know colorwork. The coffee cozy must be knit before class!
