Pressed Flowers Mosaic Kerchief - Thursdays, 5/21, 5/28 & 6/4 from 5:30 - 7 pm

Learn to knit the striking Pressed Flowers motif using mosaic knitting—a simple technique that creates complex colorwork while only handling one yarn at a time. Over two sessions, you’ll master reading charts and shaping a classic triangular kerchief. It’s the perfect next step for knitters ready to move beyond basics into texture and color.

What You’ll Learn:

Week 1: Foundational Techniques & Flower Motif
• Learn the basics of mosaic knitting, working with one yarn at a time using slipped stitches
• Read and understand mosaic charts
• Begin the pressed flower motif
• Start your kerchief with increases to create the triangular shape

Week 2: Shaping, Troubleshooting & Finishing
• Transition to decreases while maintaining the mosaic pattern
• Explore color and texture choices
• Fix common mosaic mistakes
• Finish with bind-off and blocking techniques for a polished pieces

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner - must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off, increasing & decreasing

Materials Needed:

  • Pattern: Pressed Flowers Kerchief by Amy Christoffers

  • Yarn: Approximately 228 yards of DK or worsted weight yarn. We recommend cotton for summer but you can use wool or a mix of fibers.

    • Main Color (MC): 114 yards (50g).

    • Contrast Color (CC): 114 yards (50g).

    • Tip: Use high-contrast colors to make the flower motif pop.

  • Needles: US size 6 (4mm) circular or straight needles.

  • Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers, scissors

Class price: $85, includes pattern  

Class Schedule: 3-part class. You must be able to attend all classes as there will be no make up classes.

We ask that all yarn for classes be purchased in the shop. 10% discount will be applied. Materials can be purchased at the shop prior to class.

All classes must be paid in advance. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48 hours before the start of class by emailing hello@thecreativeknot.com. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the class start time, as well as missed classes, are not eligible for store credit. No exceptions.

Class Size: 6 person max. Must have two registered for class to occur.

Lisa has been knitting for over 10 years and brings a warm, encouraging teaching style to every class. She’s a recent (and very welcome!) addition to The Creative Knot team and loves helping new knitters build confidence and enjoy the creative process.
