Don’t Toss It, Transform It! The Art of Creative Mending

Discover the art of repair as a form of beautiful creative expression! Instead of trying to hide fabric flaws, you will learn how to celebrate them using colorful threads, textures, and artistic stitches. This hands-on workshop teaches approachable needlework techniques that extend the life of your well-loved garments, supporting a sustainable lifestyle by keeping clothing out of the landfill.

What You Will Learn:

  • Hemming Basics: Practical stitches to keep your garments clean and durable.

  • Reverse Appliqué: Layering fabrics behind damage to create eye-catching dimension.

  • Introduction to Darning: Grid-weaving techniques to rebuild open holes in knits.

  • Sashiko-Inspired Stitching: A Japanese stitching tradition that uses a simple running stitch to create surprisingly intricate designs

Guided by Teaching Artist Jenny Santa Maria, this workshop treats needlework as both a useful life skill and a creative, empowering act of care. All materials included.

This is a relaxed Sip & Craft BYOB workshop—feel free to bring your favorite beverage and enjoy a creative, social evening while you stitch.
